The whisky app that remembers every dram
Check in what you are drinking, rate it, tag the flavours and build a tasting history worth looking back on. Free on iOS, Android and the web.
What you can do with it
Check in every dram
Log what you are drinking with a rating out of ten, the flavours you picked up, a photo and where you were. Each check-in becomes part of a tasting history you can look back through.
Tag what you actually taste
Pick nose and palate flavours from a curated list instead of writing an essay. Over time this shows you the styles you keep coming back to.
Track your collection
Keep a record of the bottles you own, the ones you have finished and the ones on your wishlist.
Scan the bottle
Point the camera at the barcode on the back of a bottle and the app finds the bottling for you, with no typing out a name from a label.
Follow other drinkers
See what friends are opening, give a slàinte to check-ins you like, and find bottles through people whose taste you trust.
Built around whisky
Distilleries, independent bottlers, bottling series, cask types, age statements and cask strength are all first-class, not bolted onto a generic drinks app.
A look inside
See what the people you follow are pouring, and raise a slàinte to it.
Every new bottling as it lands, with age, strength and the day it appeared.
Shops compared on the bottle itself, cheapest first, in your own currency.
No idea what to buy? Answer two questions, or pick an idea and go.
Every dram you logged, searchable, with the score you gave it.
Keep your own lists: what you own, what you finished, what you still want.
Common questions
Is Whisky Guru free?
Yes. Creating an account, checking in whiskies, rating them and tracking your collection are all free. There is no paid tier.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Whisky Guru runs in any browser at app.whiskyguru.online, and the iOS and Android apps are there if you prefer a native experience. Your account and check-ins are the same across all three.
What is a whisky check-in?
A check-in is a record of a dram you have drunk: the bottling, a rating out of ten, the flavours you picked up, an optional photo and where you were. Over time your check-ins build a personal tasting history you can look back on.
How is it different from Untappd?
The idea is similar — log what you drink and share it — but Whisky Guru is built around whisky rather than beer. It understands distilleries, independent bottlers, bottling series, cask types, age statements and cask strength, none of which map onto a beer app.
Can I scan a bottle to find it?
Yes. The app scans the barcode on the back of the bottle and matches it against our database, so you can check in without searching by name.
Can I keep my profile private?
Yes. Profiles are private by default. You choose whether your username and check-ins appear in the public activity feed, and you can change that at any time.
